Holly Hunter was an American actress who became famous due to her roles in films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her numerous awards, among them an Oscar. Her career began acting as an actress both on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. When she was a kid, Helen Keller was her favourite character in a fifth class play. The mumps caused her to lose her hearing in one of her ear, however this did not stop her from pursuing her dream. In college she studied theatre and then moved from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her goal. After a casual encounter, she got stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the Broadway Crimes of the Heart that made Hunter's debut. As she relocated into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land film roles. An supporting role was found for her in Swing Shift. For the past 30 years, she has appeared on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
